Job Description Summary

Mechanic: Industrial Machinery work focuses on installing, repairing, maintaining, dismantling, and moving large and/or complex stationary manufacturing equipment including: . Leveling, aligning and installing industrial machinery (e.g., conveyors, tram rails, engines, turbines, production equipment, etc.) on foundations/base plates using hand and power tools . Dismantling/moving machinery/equipment using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks . Determining and performing required maintenance (cleaning, lubricating, aligning/adjusting parts, calibrating, etc.) . Testing, troubleshooting, and repairing machines and equipment and ordering/installing replacement parts

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • The apprentice's responsibilities include learning and developing practical machining skills, participating in TAFE classes and workshops on and offsite, observing all health and safety codes, and successfully completing tests and assignments.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct all activities in a safe manner whilst adhering to HEPE’s SH&E policies and statutory regulations and alerting others regarding potential concerns. Including completion of requisite safety risk assessments (Take 5s).
  • Ensure adherence to the HEPE’s Quality Assurance system and that all documentation under your control conforms to HEPE’s Quality and Management Systems.
  • Assisting within the relevant department, but also learning about all aspects of the business.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organised work area and maintain all equipment, to like new appearance.
  • Completing all TAFE tests, presentations, and other required evaluations.
  • Working and traveling to other sites when required and representing the company.
  • Positively seeking and receiving feedback.
  • Actively participate and attend meetings and offering suggestions for improvement where appropriate.
  • Maintaining your training log during your apprenticeship.
  • Build professional relationships with colleagues and clients.

PREFERABLE QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Finished Year 11
  • Drivers Licence
  • Pre-Apprentice Qualification in Engineering (Desirable)
  • Some prior work experience in a workshop environment
  • Demonstrated ability to read mechanical drawings.
  • Excellent coordination and mechanical skills
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and safety
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in math
  • Basic computer skills
