The Department Head tech position is considered the technical expert within their specific area of responsibility. When required, the Department Head will assist the Shop Manager with data gathering concerning Quality, Processes and Warranty Diagnostics. The Department Head works with techs within their department and may be asked to perform other tasks as requested by their Manager.


It is possible this role would have to travel to support customer engines in the field. This role may have to help customers resolve field issues, or for general field support globally.

  1. Safety – Assure that all activities performed within the department are carried out in a safe manner, utilizing PPE and adhering to company policy, alerting others regarding potential concerns. Immediate intervention in any unsafe concern is expected. Safety will always be # 1.
  2. Enforce company policies and procedures while maintaining an appropriate level of respect.
  3. This role is expected to set the example of Teamwork, Positive Attitude, Safety, Quality and Responsibility within their department.
  4. Responsible for maintaining positive department motivation and morale.
  5. Ensure that all work performed within their department is properly executed.
  6. Maintain the pace of department production in their area of responsibility. Be aware of all deadlines within their department and ensure all employees in their area are on task and following correct department procedures.
  7. Ensure that the Shop Manager is fully informed of the progress of all work within the Department. Notifying the Manager of any concern with the following: Safety, Job Delays, Quality, Process or Procedure Concerns, Build Updates etc.
  8. Find ways to improve efficiency and implement after appropriate reviews and approvals from management
  9. Take the necessary action to ensure that Techs within the department are qualified to perform their jobs, including recommending additional training to the Shop Manager when needed.
  10. Maintain a clean and orderly department.
  11. Work overtime as required to meet critical job timelines.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.




  1. High School Diploma (or equivalent).
  2. Minimum of Six (6) years of engine experience with other related specialties.
  3. Must meet skill requirements, knowledge and ability for Department Head position. Through knowledge and with company policy, procedures and performance expectations.
  4. Have strong organizational and leadership skills, evidenced by on the job performance and or previous work experience.
