The duties of this job require a high degree of specialized expertise and skill in maintaining established standards of quality and accuracy. Drive, determination and a self-disciplined approach to achieving results that meet these established criteria are necessary for successful job performance. If the job involves managing others, there is a need for someone who can exercise the necessary authority to assure policies and procedures are followed and time frames are met. At the same time, it will be necessary to give subordinates structured opportunity to develop their own expertise and capability for quality work to assure effective delegation and shared responsibility for work output. It is expected that coaching and training support for achieving effective delegation will be required. The position encompasses a defined span of control and opportunity for someone who engenders trust, demonstrates a sense of urgency and assures consistent achievement of quality standards. The work requires making decisions that support company guidelines authoritatively and quickly.


This role is responsible for all aspects of Engineering and Quality Control in a Manufacturing, Remanufacturing and Mining Environment of HEPIMS US and HEPI MS Canada.  Additional support may be provided to H-E Parts facilities in Peru and Chile.

  1. Safety – conduct all activities in a safe manner, utilizing PPE and adhering to company policy and alerting others regarding potential concerns. Safety is # 1.
  1. Leads and coordinates engineering functions, which include: sales and customer support, manufacturing and production support, reverse engineering and R&D initiatives, in-process quality control checks and audits, tooling calibration, BOM Management and a Quality Management System.
  2. Facilitates communication with other HEPI engineering groups, ensuring specifications, budgets, priorities and deadlines are clearly communicated and understood as well as a clear openness for collaborative work with these groups.
  3. Serves as project manager for multiple projects, creating timelines and cost projections, organizing collaborative meetings, and ensuring projects comply with specifications, timelines, and budgets.
  4. Reviews work and projects for technical accuracy.
  5. Evaluates and actively manages technical and engineering influenced commercial risk to the business
  6. Lead, manage and prioritize the work of the engineering, drafting and QC staff supporting and promoting global engineering systems and priorities.
  7. Establishes, implements, and maintains administrative policies, procedures, and standards, promoting global best practice
  8. Prepares and executes departmental budget.
  9. Conducts quality audits of new and existing suppliers.
  10. Maintains knowledge of new trends, developments, technologies, materials, and best practices; applies this knowledge to continually improve product lines and production efficiency.
  11. Works hand in hand with sales to evaluate options to innovate and lower customer TCO.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Skills/Abilities:


  1. Thorough understanding of engineering theory and design criteria.
  2. Thorough understanding of applied math and physics.
  3. Knowledge of mining operations and machine maintenance practices



Position will be required to make decisions that will directly impact the department.



Position requires collaboration with Global Engineering, other engineering centers, department managers (including sales and production), and current/potential customers.




  1. BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
  2. 8+ Plus years' experience in a shop, manufacturing environment and/or heavy equipment management
  3. 3 -5 years of supervisory experience.
  4. Proficiency in MS Office, CAD, and 3D modelling systems (prefer Autodesk design suite)
  5. Valid passport and ability to travel Internationally without restriction
  6. Valid drivers license and clean driving record
  7. MSHA Safety certifications required to enter Mining Operations must be obtained within 3 months of hire date.
